尋解聚焦治療基礎理論與技巧證書課程
Certificate in Basic Concept and Skills of Solution focused Therapy

“Judging by its popularity, solution-focused therapy may be the treatment for our times. Now one of the most widely used psychotherapy approaches in the world (Trepper, Dolan, McCollum, & Nelson, 2006) … Its pragmatic focus on coping, rather than curing, has made it applicable to almost any problem seen by therapist.” (Nichols, & Schwartz, 2008, p.368) Solution-focused therapy advocates that the core role of a therapist is to help client to construct their solution instead of figure out what are the causes of the problem. Solution-focused therapists argue that it isn’t necessary to know what causes problems in order to make things better. Their emphasis is on what works, not what doesn’t work. Therefore, it is the solution talk, not problem talk, is the direction of solution focused therapists. The course will introduce the theoretical background, basic assumptions, core working principles, and hall mark techniques of the Solution-focused therapy.

The course content include: From structuralism to postmodernism; social constructionism and the narrative revolution; three distinct models of therapy leading to three different basic views toward problem; the theoretical background, assumptions and working principles of Solution-focused therapy; the core concepts and techniques of Solution-focused therapy; and the application of Solution-focused therapy in social work settings.

After taking this course, the students should be able to:

  1. Understand the theoretical background, basic assumptions, core working principles and hall mark techniques of the Solution-focused therapy
  2. Familiar with the techniques of Pre-session Change Question, Miracle Question, Exception Finding Question, Scaling Question and Coping Question and be able to apply in their social work practice.
  3. Apply Solution-focused concept of customer-client relationship (i.e. visitor, complainant, & customer) to establish effective working relationship with client.
  4. Understand the latest development of SFT and can integrate SFT with other psychotherapeutic models that you have learned in previous professional training.
